Meet Your Herbalist

Hi, I’m Kristyn.

I'm a Board-Certified Clinical Herbalist and the founder of Sacred Oak Herbal Clinic.

My work centers on something deceptively simple:

Looking at the person before reaching for the herb.

When someone comes to me with several concerns that don't seem connected, I'm interested in understanding the patterns beneath them.

What is happening with digestion and elimination? What has changed in the skin? What is the tongue showing? What patterns appear in the iris? What do the tissues tell us? What else was happening when these symptoms began?

Those details matter.

Because two people can experience the same symptom—and need very different support.

How I Found Clinical Herbalism

My path into herbal medicine began at Bastyr University, where I originally entered the Naturopathic Doctorate program.

Then I took an herbal medicine-making class.

As part of that class, I created a salve for eczema that I later named Salveation. Seeing the results from something I had formulated myself changed the direction of my life.

I realized that herbal medicine wasn't simply one part of the work I wanted to do.

It was the work I wanted to do.

I changed paths and went on to earn my Master's degree in Herbal Medicine from the American College of Healthcare Sciences.

From the Apothecary to the Clinic

For seven years, I formulated and handcrafted herbal remedies through Sacred Oak Apothecary.

Those years gave me invaluable experience working with herbs and creating formulas—but over time, my work began moving in a different direction.

I became increasingly interested in the individual behind the symptom.

Through the teachings and guidance of Dr. Elderberry Sulis, I deepened my clinical approach and ultimately became a Board-Certified Clinical Herbalist.

One of the most important lessons I carried forward was the importance of supporting the individual rather than the masses.

That changed the way I wanted to practice.

Sacred Oak Herbal Clinic grew from that shift.

How I Practice Today

I combine traditional herbal knowledge with detailed health history, case research, tissue state evaluation, tongue assessment, and iris evaluation to better understand the patterns each client presents.

I have a particular interest in patterns involving the liver, gallbladder, lymphatic system, digestion, elimination, and skin, especially when someone is experiencing multiple concerns that may initially seem unrelated.

But I don't begin a consultation assuming I already know the answer.

Assessment comes first.

From there, I develop individualized herbal and lifestyle recommendations based on the person sitting in front of me.

That is the foundation of Sacred Oak Herbal Clinic:

Assess First. Support Individually.

I'd Be Honored to Work With You

If you've been trying to make sense of symptoms that don't seem to fit neatly together, you don't have to figure out the pattern alone.

We can take a closer look together.

Sometimes the first step isn't finding another answer—it's finding someone willing to ask better questions.
